Pickin Pumpkins

Ok...I have got to update this blog. It is depressing to have that last post up for so long. I want to thank you all for you kind words; it warmed my heart during a difficult time. Sadly, it was just his time; but I am comforted in the fact that Brett and I were with him till the very end. He was our sweet constant, a loyal friend and protector, and a big furry hairball! Seriously, I will be cleaning hair off of things for years to come. It is his legacy. hee hee!
So for the good stuff.
Here are some pictures of our fun pumpkin pickin adventure.
I truly love this time of year. It is a fun time for our family!
So ch-ch-check 'em out!
Jackie has to wear glasses now. Is she not the cutest thing ever?!
(don't you dare disagree with me...I'll pop you!)

Jackie's Pumpkin

Ellie's pumpkin.

Ro and his pumpkin

I am so blessed to call these crazy freaks mine!
Oh, how I love them!

America's Next Top Models!

Dad loves any excuse to get the power tools out.

He did an amazing job carving our pumpkins this year.
We got tons of compliments on Halloween night.

55 little pumpkins sitting on a fence
(well really a bench)
Jackie would love to recite that poem for you.
She shares it with me at least one a day.
Daddy's

Mommy's

Ro's

Ellie's

Jackie's

Ooo Ooo Ooo!
Next up....Halloween Costumes.
(so what if I am little behind....better late than never!)

Crazy Hair Day

The kiddo's school had a crazy hair day. This was during Ro's bout with the piggy flu; so he didn't get to participate. Somehow I forgot to get a picture of Ellie's crazy hair. Sorry Ellie!

Jackie was so excited once she saw her hair. She new it would be the craziest. But when Jack came home from school and walked in the door she immediately burst into tears.

"What in the world is wrong, baby girl?"
"My head hurts!"

Apparently our fun and crazy hair do was giving my poor baby girl a massive headache. I quickly took ALL of the elastics out of her hair. (that took some time) I rubbed her head and gave her some baby tylenol. Poor kid. I guess next year we will have to test a few do's before settling on one.

Daddy/Daughter Date!

Take it in folks!
This is a rare sighting....Brett in a costume!
He hates dressing up.
It is amazing what a daddy will do for his daughter.
Oh, and it helps to have a nice wife figure out a super simple costume.

Daddy and daughter both had a great time at the Achievement Days
Daddy/Daughter Halloween Party. They ate pizza and played games.
Ellie loved getting to spend time with her daddy.

Yay for Grandpa!

(no...I don't make her wear that shirt. She likes it!)

Grandpa came to visit us in October. It was a way too short weekend; but we loved every minute of it. Sadly he came just in time for Raul to get the piggy flu. Poor Ro was quarantined to his room all weekend. He didn't get to play with Grandpa at all.

Grandpa was kind enough to make us his famous fresh salsa. It is so good! I had to take pictures because rarely will you find my poppa in a kitchen cooking.

He does not add frosted flakes to his salsa.
Just thought I would preempt any silly questions regarding it.

Thanks poppa for coming and making your delicious salsa. We already miss you....and not just because of the salsa!

Love you!!!!

Summertime Part II

Isn't she lovely?!
(and the sins haven't even been washed away yet!)

Ready!

They look so good in white!
Do you see the pearls she is wearing? There was a sweet little lady there helping all the kids getting baptized. She was so concerned that we wouldn't remember to take them off. She must have said something 3 different times about it. We finally took them off so she wouldn't fixate on them anymore.

Happy family with newly baptized Ellie!

Daddy, daughter.

My Beautiful Babies!
I don't know what is with Jackie. She was being cranky! Here she is sharing with us her fake smile.
It was a beautiful day.
There is nothing like witnessing the baptism of your child; and see that extra light enter in.
Just another great summer experience. More to come!

This is for you Dad!

It's not a tumah!

Ro has the piggy flu!
No worries, he is doing really well.
I am trying to find pictures from Ellie's baptism and Ro's b-day.
Where are they???
When I find them I will be bahk! (said like Arnold)

D.I. Proves that the Church is true!

I have always admired the great things my step-sister Lexie
seems to always find when going to D.I.
(or now her local thrift store; since she is no longer near a D.I.)

I hope she will be proud of the great deals Brett and I found last week.
Brett and I were totally stoked!
(Does anyone really say "stoked" anymore? Did I ever say it before? What is wrong with me!)
Ch-ch-check 'em out!

A wooden sled, that Jackie could for sure fit in, and possibly Ro or Ellie.

I, of course, will not be giving it to them.

It will be a fun and whimsical winter decoration.

$15.00

I looked online, and one very similar to this was selling for $75!!!

Wh-wh-what!?
This perfectly perfect in every way bike trailer.

Brett had to fight off some punk kids for it but we prevailed!

(really I don't think they had any money)

$20.00!!!!!! Woohoo! I will say it again $20.00!!

I looked online and the cheapest I could find a brand new one was $119.00.

Sweeeet!!!
(I am full of overly used and dated phrases today)

We have been wanting to take more bike rides as a family,
but Jackie has a hard time keeping up. So last Saturday, in between Conference Sessions, we took a family bike ride and had a picnic in the park.

It was dee-lightful!

Here is Brett and Jack cruising along. She was comfy cozy and had a ball. Daddy went really fast a few times but she loved every minute of it.

Here is Ellie. This is honestly a miracle that she is finally riding a bike without training wheels. Last fall she finally learned. (When she was 7!!) She just had no desire before to learn. Now she loves it and has the scars to prove it.

(I had issues getting Ro's picture of his bike on here....Sorry Ro...stupid blogger!!!)

Picnic time! Jack was a little grumpy at this point because she had gone down the slide and it was wet. I took a picture of it and the first thing she said was:
"Don't put it on the blog!"
They learn quick don't they!

At this point they were all pretty sassy come to think of it. Oh well.
We had a fun time, made even more enjoyable thanks to our great deals!

Livin off the Land

I had the wonderful opportunity to pilfer someones garden. Well pilfer might not be the correct term since she graciously offered. But if she hadn't I would have totally pilfered it! Well, I guess I wouldn't have because I didn't know her or where she lived. Ugh! I guess what I am saying is my Mom's friend offered to let us both come and get stuff from her garden. Geez louise!
So we did and it was awesome!
My kiddo's had lots of fun picking:
Zucchini
Green Beans
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Green Bell Peppers
and Red Potatoes
I had fun, washing, chopping, shredding, dicing, boiling, and freezing the fruits of our labor.
It made me feel all domestic and stuff.
It was a good feeling.
We were able to can 19 quarts of beautiful tomatoes.
They will be delicious in my world famous spaghetti sauce.
(Well not world famous but home famous...I guess)
We brought home one large zucchini and 1 medium sized zucchini.
Out of those I have 5 bags full of shredded zucchini rationed out in heavy 1 cup portions .
I chopped up enough green bell peppers for one large baggy full.

These were the most work, but look how beautiful!
I have three 2 cup portions, and two 4 cup portions of short cut green beans;
and 3 bags with longer skinny green beans.

Look at this happy guy.

I cut off this top and this was staring back on me!
It was hard to chop him up...but chop him I did.
I think Heavenly Father has a sense of humor-in a good way.
Not a Depeche Mode kind of way.

Oh and here is the picture of Ro on his bike that I was struggling with from the previous post. I didn't want him to feel left out....not that he reads my blog. Just in case though.

***Insert evil laugh***

I am a bad mom.

Sorry Jack but when you say:
"Don't put it on the blog!"
It just makes me want to do it more.
Can you see her sad, dejected little self?
I am sure one day blogs will deemed as child abuse.
But for now I will keep on abusin'!

Summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime- Part 1

Since you missed out on all our fun this summer (all my fault...I know), I thought I would bring you all up to speed.
We will start with my sweet middle child's 8th birthday!
Ellie was blessed with wonderful and delightful presents
from her wonderful and delightful family!
See, she is both full of wonder and delight from this particular gift.

More wonder and delight comes from a Rachael Ray-esque Barbie doll gift set.

When you turn 8 in our family, you get a wonderful and delightful set of
scriptures with your name on them.
It is kind of a rule.

Here is said middle child with her siblings.
They are pretending to be happy and delighted for her.
Secretly they want to steal her presents....or at least her spotlight.

We have another tradition in our family. You get to pick out what kind of cake you want and then you get to make it with mom. I am terrible at letting my kids cook with me.
(I am impatient...which is neither wonderful or delightful)
So this is an extra special time for us.

A wonderful and delightful cake,
for a wonderful and delightful daughter!

See, I told you she is wonderful and delightful. I wouldn't lie to you.

Here she is wishing for a new mom that would let her cook with her more than once a year.

Here my nephew is wishing for something wonderful and delightful,
something besides a pink birthday cake.
A wonderful and delightful day was had by all!
(I think...don't quote me on that)

Ok...I am good now

So life is super busy right now but I really need/want to get back to this. It is good for me to do this. This last summer was hard. I won't get into all the nitty gritties but I know I have been struggling with depression. (Thanks to an old friend for helping me understand it is ok to admit this) I want to be done with that part and find my happy again. This morning I saw the first leaf turning red in preparation for fall. I was so excited that I took a picture and pointed it out to my kiddo's. Here is that sweet little leaf:

It is the start of something new and I want to follow suit.

It is time to have happy feet again-- and come hell or high water I will be happy! :)

Below are some pics of the kiddo's. (to help satisfy the grandparents)

I will be back, in a day or two instead of a month or two.

Rock on my friends....it is good to be back!

First day of 4th Grade!

Havin a sad

Tomorrow is the big day!
I am sending my baby to Kindergarten.
I am NOT ready for this.
I just haven't had her long enough.
I will let her go though.....but it will be hard!
Tonight Jackie was telling her sister what her teacher looks like; these are her exact words-
"She has lello hair and beautiful clothes!"
I might not be ready, but she certainly is.

I'll Be Baaack!

Ghost dog says: "Oooo...your break is over! Ooooo...you must return!"
So return I shall....just give me through next week.
I have to let my baby go to Kindergarten.
I might need a little more time to feel sorry for myself.
See you soon! Mucho Love!

Hammer Time!

I have no answers.
I understand that you are curious and maybe even bugged
that I can't seem to keep my commitments to you.
I promise this is just a brief separation. (divorce is so Jon & Kate....not my style)
In the mean time check out this video.
I hope it makes you smile; you know how I love it when you smile.

I am off now to find myself. Wish me luck!

A better attempt at a fancy dessert.

Fun with Grandpa!

Toward the tail end of our move Grandpa Dalley came for a visit.

We had a great time singing and dancing as he played his guitar.

I love listening to my Dad play guitar. I thought you might like it too; so

check out the videos below, and you will see why we love it when Grandpa comes!

Grandpa singing Lime in the Coconut

Grandpa singing Witch Doctor

This is a song my dad wrote for me when I was a little girl. There are also verses about my baptism, marriage and about our 3 little stinkers. The video is of the original version.

It is awesome to have such a fun and talented Dad/Grandpa. Thanks Daddy for the visit, we love you!
