Tonsilectomy! Squeamish Beware!

Ro was very excited the morning of...don't ask him now if he is still happy about it!

Ro had his tonsils and adenoids removed on Thursday. We are very grateful that it went so well. After the surgery Dr. Haras (wonderful doctor) told us that his tonsils were big for an adult! His adenoids were huge too and growing over a nasal passage thingy (yes that is the technical term...well not really)

He had a pretty rough day today (Saturday). He threw up six times and couldn't seem to keep anything down. We called his doctor and she told us what to do. What it took to help him was something I had hoped I would never have to do as a parent. All I will say is....
SUPPOSITORY! ACK!
He is doing much better now and is sleeping soundly. Poor kid, it was a rough day.

I took a little video before he went into surgery. I wanted to get his little man voice recorded. The doctor said after his surgery his voice will change. I am hoping it won't change too much. Here is the video:

Here are some pictures from the day of his surgery.

Ok now is the time to stop reading if you are squeamish. I am now going to share a couple pictures of his tonsils. Gross, I know, but kind of interesting. By the way, in case you were wondering....they are squishy!

BAM! Here they are!
I made the pictures small so they wouldn't be too gross.
(Brenda I thought of you when I took these pictures. I remembered I needed something for scale!)
I know... HUGE! The doctor told us that she is surprised he could even breath they were so big in his throat. She also said now that he won't have to work so hard to breath he will be burning less calories and we needed to watch what he eats. Crazy!

(I am thinking of stuffing cotton balls down my throat)

HOLY BUCKETS!!!!! Those things are flippin gigantic!!! I can't believe you're still alive! I think you should put them in the freezer and keep them forever! Glad you're ok! Indie and Tadhg both had theirs out but they were still 2-3 years old. It's a lot harder when you're older! Love you and glad your doing better!
PS I had to give Indie a Suppository too!! YUCK!

Yes, we always need scale. :) I'm glad everything went well. I can't believe how big those things are, let alone that they were in little Ro's throat! Heal fast.

That is so disgusting yet I can't stop looking at it! I want to see an open mouth "after" picture when his little throat is healed.
