So we have not shared much about "Adoption Day 2007!". Brett and I were really nervous on the way to the court house; we had no idea what to expect and it was starting to feel scary. Luckily it was just awesome! There were parts that were totally official and other parts that were very laid back. Brett was taken back a little when the Judge started grilling him though. He wanted to know Brett's definition of Moral Character. He wanted to know if Brett thought he could financially take care of the kids; and he also wanted to know exactly what kinds of things Brett did with them. It made my heart swell to know that the Judge did not need to worry. Brett is an awesome dad and works so hard to take care of us. I am sure our Judge see's so many dead beat dads (and moms for that matter); I don't blame him for wanting to get to know Brett. As you will be able to tell from some of the pictures, Jackie was not having any of it. All she would do it cling to Brett or I for dear life. So not a lot of great pictures of her in the court room. Oh well. It was so great to have our friends and family there as well. I kind of thought that being "official" might not feel much different. Granted it is not a huge change, but there is something to being able to say they are truly ours now! We feel so very grateful. To help celebrate our new family and to say goodbye to our sweet friends we had a pizza party (thank you Chad & Angie for the pizza) at our empty house later that day. It was so bitter sweet. It was nice to spend some last moments with our friends. We even had a Pinata. That will now become a new tradition in our family; it was so much fun! As the night ended and we said goodbye to the last of our friends, Brett shut the door and we both looked at each other with tears in our eyes and just hugged each other and cried. We were not ready to leave yet. We love our friends in Greeley!! I don't think they will ever know how much they all blessed our lives. They will always hold a special place in our hearts. Well check out the slideshow below of our bitter sweet day.
